After belief in Christ Jesus, and repentance from sin, our next step as a believer is to be baptized. Baptism is an outward expression of an inward work of God that is an important part of the believers journey. Baptism was a part of Jesus commission to his followers (Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:16), where he told them both to baptize, and those who believe and are baptized are saved. Our response in believing the Gospel is to repent and be baptized (Acts 2:38). Baptism is identifying with the burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ; we are buried with Him in baptism and rise to newness of life (Romans 6:4, Colossians 2:12). Baptism is an essential part of the believers walk (1 Peter 3:21, Acts 10:47), and those who accept the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, are baptized (Acts 2:41).
